Amateur Radio AC5AA
Up Mobiling History

Williamson Cty Amateur Radio Club

This recent photo illustrates most of the main operating position. This setup, with an Ten-Tec Orion and Alpha 99 amplifier is a terrific QSK CW station, not to mention SSB and RTTY.   To the right of the Orion is the Model 238B KW antenna tuner.  Begali Simplex paddle, Logikey K-5 keyer, Array Solutions "PowerMaster"  power/SWR meter, and Heil ProSet with HC5 mic element round out this position. (the mic is rarely used - I like CW a lot!)   I recently switched out my trusty HAL DXP38 TNC for a new microHAM DigiKeyer for HF digital modes, and use an old Kantronics PK-9612 for VHF PacketCluster.

A "new" R-4A that is in the process of being cleaned up.

The Drakes were dream rigs for me when I was a teen, and it's kind of neat to finally own a pair, thanks to my friend, and Drake collector, Mike Flicinski, K2UXE.
